  • Why should I hire your services when I can pay the teen next door?
Great question! Let's compare: Shall we go on? (We have horror stories from clients we can share!) We are a proud Veteran-owned small business that understands the true meaning of pet care and possesses YEARS of professional experience in veterinarian assistance, animal rescue, vivarium care, forestry, and wildlife experience. When you consider our services, you support your local community businesses! And we are grateful!
  • Do you clean pet's accidents?
Absolutely! Accidents happen! If we find that accidents are happening outside of the norm, we will suggest adjustments to their care such as extra or longer drop-in visits. Every pet has their individual needs, and we accommodate accordingly to ensure the safety and happiness of your pet.
  • What kind of animals do you care for?
We will care for any legal domestic pet! If you have an “uncommon” exotic pet, we follow your care routine and take time to learn about the special care of your unique pet. No lions, tigers, or bears.
  • Do you walk dogs that are reactive or aggressive?
Our top priority is the safety of all pups in our care, including your fur baby. We understand some pups can be a bit overprotective of their humans. This can be a challenge. We would be glad to provide you with resources to help your dog receive professional training to help him overcome these challenges. Once he's had some training, we'll happily take him on walks, too, and even help him with his homework assignments!
  • My dog pulls on the leash, is this, ok?
We know some pups are not the best walkers. It’s no fun for the pup or the walker and can be a safety risk. We would be glad to provide you with resources to help your dog receive professional training to help him overcome these challenges. In the meantime, we can still provide some fun playtime in a fenced yard. Once he's had some training, we'll happily take him on walks, too, and even help him with his homework assignments!
  • What is the earliest time I can schedule a visit? What is the latest?
Services are scheduled in 3-hour timeframes starting from 7 AM to 7 PM (6:30 PM being the last appointment.) For example, a midday walk may be scheduled between 11 AM – 2 PM. This allows for every pet to be logistically serviced. Unfortunately, not every pup can get walked right at noon. If you need a service during non-business hours (any time between 7:00 PM - 10 PM), a $10 fee will be added to the service. We do not serve late at night to keep our pack leaders safe.
  • Can you accommodate specific times?
We do our best to honor specific times. However, our pack leaders' schedules are logistically planned a week ahead and change daily.
  • How do I know if my pet was cared for?
We use a software system, Pet Pocketbook, that offers GPS tracking for our dog walks and report cards sent after each visit that include a summary of the visit, pictures, and videos. Clients can log in to their account at any time to view their reports, schedule future services, pay their invoices and more!
  • What happens if there is an emergency with my pet?
We hope this never happens; however, we are prepared should this occur. If a pet becomes ill while under the care of RubyRed's Pet Care, LLC, every attempt will be made to contact the client immediately and directly. If the client is unreachable, the client authorizes the representative of RubyRed's Pet Care, LLC, to transport the pet(s) to the veterinarian the client has listed on file.
  • Will I always know who is entering my house?
YES! You can always check your schedule of services and it will list who is caring for your pet(s). You can learn more about our pack leaders by visiting Meet the Pack!
  • What areas do you service?
We keep our service area small so that we can focus on quality care, not the quantity of clients. We service Irmo, Chapin, Ballentine, and White Rock areas.
  • What do you do about approaching other dogs on walks? What about children?
Pets, like humans, can have grumpy days. Our pack leaders are specifically trained and instructed to avoid contact with passing-by dogs and children. This is for your own dog’s safety as it is unknown how a passer-by dog or yours may react.
  • What do you do if you are approached by an off-leash dog?
Without a doubt, this is a stressful situation and one we strive to avoid by maintaining good focus on the dog in our possession and awareness of the walk environment. Our pack leaders are instructed to always remain aware and if a dog is seen in the distance off-leash, to immediately turn around and head in the opposite direction. A direct encounter with an off-leash dog is a potentially dangerous situation. Our pack leaders’ safety and that of your dog is paramount, so our pack leader will do what he or she can to direct the off-leash dog away. If off-leash dogs are a recurring theme in your neighborhood, it is well advised to give our team a heads-up and we may need to restrict our visits to yard-play.
  • I have an emergency and need to schedule a last-minute service. How do I do this?
Contact us as soon as possible! While coverage of these services is not guaranteed, however, we will try to accommodate you as best we can.
